Two-phase cadaver lab production demonstrating a novel orthopedic platform across multiple indications, followed by a rapid-turn investor film for strategic and fundraising conversations.
The Problem
HolmesMed's patented orthopedic anchor technology, invented by its surgeon-founder, was still pre-clearance. That limited the ways the team could demonstrate real procedural performance. Cadaveric work provided the strongest visual evidence available, but the technology also needed to be understood as a platform across multiple orthopedic indications rather than a solution for one procedure. Because cadaver lab access is costly and difficult to repeat, every production window had to generate maximum value. HolmesMed needed a procedural evidence library that demonstrated platform versatility and could carry investor, strategic partner, and business development conversations.
Approach
J2 Media planned and executed two cadaver lab productions with different objectives. The first captured procedural proof across nine orthopedic indications, including macro views of anchor deployment and arthroscopic picture-in-picture footage. For the second, J2 Media built the investor edit before the shoot, using placeholders for the new procedural footage and the surgeon-founder interview. Once filming was complete the new material dropped directly into an established structure, which is how a finished six-minute film shipped in roughly 96 hours.
Deliverables
Outcome
The resulting library gave HolmesMed a way to demonstrate both procedural performance and the broader platform opportunity to investors and strategic partners. The content became part of the company's business development and diligence conversations and, according to the surgeon-founder, contributed to the strategic partner interest that followed.
"The videos were instrumental in communicating real-world performance to investors and major strategics. This content contributed directly to securing interest from a strategic partner."
Why This Worked
Pre-clearance technologies have limited routes to procedural evidence, and a cadaver lab day is expensive to repeat. The production plan had to carry weight the shoot day could not. Multiple indications, multiple viewing perspectives, and multiple downstream uses were all decided before the first camera rolled.
