Three-part clinical education program for the alpHaONE Wireless pH Capsule System, with distinct training assets for patients, nurses and technicians, and physicians.

The Problem

alpHaONE required education across three audiences with very different needs. Patients needed to understand an unfamiliar procedure without being overwhelmed. Nurses and technicians needed a reliable setup workflow. Physicians needed concise placement guidance for a procedure they may rarely have the opportunity to observe directly. One generic training video could not serve all three well, and producing disconnected assets risked inconsistent messaging across sites. Laborie needed a coordinated system that addressed each audience appropriately while holding one clinical and product story together.

Approach

Following DDW in San Diego, J2 Media planned production across four Southern California environments: a physician office, a surgery center, a physician interview setup, and a setting for the patient workflow. Each video was structured around the information and the perspective most useful to its audience rather than around a shared script. When restrictions prevented the planned patient interview, production adapted with a patient stand-in, preserving both the educational narrative and the schedule without compromising continuity.

Deliverables

Patient education video
Spanish-subtitled patient education version for LATAM audiences
Nurse and technician in-service setup video
Physician placement tips and best-practices video
Updated versions incorporating early customer feedback and motion-tracked revisions

Outcome

Laborie received a coordinated training system spanning the full adoption pathway, from patient preparation through clinical setup and physician placement. The program became a reusable foundation for patient education, clinical onboarding, and physician guidance, giving Laborie a consistent set of assets that could scale across audiences and markets.

Why This Worked

The device was the same for all three audiences. The communication problem was not. Designing the program around those differences let each video stay focused while still working as part of one consistent education system.
